Joshua Tree Elopement // Tumbleweed Sanctuary & Garden

I’ve been wanting to attend Photo Native for the past couple of years but it was hard to spend the money on something I didn’t know if I was going to pursue. So when I finally took the jump and started my photography business, I saved all my earnings to put back into my education. I bought my Photo Native ticket within 10 minutes of them posting the pre-sale tickets. This year though was different, it was in Palm Springs, the only thing I knew about Palm Springs is that Coachella is there… that’s it. I had no desire to really go to Palm Springs besides Photo Native. Now that I’ve been PS has become my absolute favorite place I’ve been, it speaks to my soooooul! The mid-century houses, the colourful doors, the unique architecture within, the fun wall murals… and so much more. I canNOT wait to go back and visit again and roam more. 12/10 recommend.

Even though fine art photography isn’t my personal forte, but it something I really admire & appreciate. When I saw that Savan was doing a shoot boost at Photo Native, I knew I had to jump on it and I am SO glad that I went. She was so awesome to learn from, she taught us why & what she was doing while shooting. If that doesn’t sound impressive she shoots almost all film, film is my first love. I remember shooting my grandfathers Minolta in high school and loving the look of film & grain. I was the only one without a film camera at the shoot, she let me borrow her Contax & gave me a roll of film. Did I mention that Richard Photo Lab, processed & scanned our film and returned them to us the next day, talk about customer service! I just wish I shot more rolls of film. I’m now addicted to film. In fact, I just purchased a Canon EOS 3, so get ready to see my adventure with 35mm film.

Also, can someone please please please get married at this venue & hire me (of course). These images where at high noon, which I used to be scared at shooting in and now I’m kind of obsessed. In fact, I shot another session at high noon and my confidence was high because I was able to learn how to be better in different lighting settings.
