The why behind my favorite picks:
In our second Airbnb while we were road-tripping around the fjords of Norway last year our host had this same exact pitcher on our bedroom table. We used it repeatedly through our three days in the town, that’s when I resolved to do the same thing when we got back for our guests. Lucky for me, I found the same one in Ikea. Now whenever we have guests stay over I fill it up with cold water and two glasses for their room, that way they can always have fresh water at their disposal. I also use it when we have friends over for game nights.
Some of our favorite games are: Secret Hitler, Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza, Kan Jam, Spike Ball and Codenames. When we were first married we lived in a 500 sq feet one-bedroom apartment, it was the absolute best time. We had one of our favorite couple friends live two doors down, we were at each others apartments every single day and another couple friend across the parking lot. We held game night every Sunday night with treats… man, I miss those days, they were seriously the best. If you want to end up the most heated you have ever felt in your life play Secret Hitler with your friends, your friendship/marriage/relationship will never be the same afterward.
I don’t like to use plastic and wish that these had better lids, but they are our favorite for food storage of leftover meals. Speaking of plastic, for yeaaarsss I would never use the plastic produce bags that grocery stores had, I would just put the fresh produce straight in the basket and my husband thought it was the most disgusting thing. I finally purchased reusable produce bags with drawstrings. You can also make them with cute linen fabric, but if you don’t have a sewing machine like me, these are the second best. I also keep my Baggu bag in my purse at all times, I mostly use it for grocery trips but I have used it for picnics. It surprisingly holds a ton of weight and holds a lot of food.
I wouldn’t necessarily say I’m a “cook” by chance but I love to cook new dishes all the time. One of my least favorite things was chopping up garlic for pasta dishes so I was very adament on getting a garlic press and still to this day it is still one of my favorite purchases. My hands no longer reek of garlic for days. You know that happens!
I make my own mirror/window cleaner and all-purpose cleaner with non-toxic cleaning solvents so having these amber glass spray bottles were a top pick for me because they not only look pretty but they also hold all my homemade recipes.
Celeste Clark is one of my favorite artists, she also has a heart of gold. She makes custom family portraits, home portraits, wedding bouquet portraits but not only that if you are Christian she has beautiful artwork depicting the attributes of Christ. I have her Song of the Lamb print in my home and it’s my favorite centerpiece. Pro tip: order the Canvas prints for her artwork, they are so beautiful. I keep dropping hints to my husband that I want a custom family floral portrait. One of my favorite things are flowers of every kind (minus red roses…), I’d love to have a family floral portrait of all the flowers of my grandparents, I think that is a special way to incorporate those you love into your new home.
This year I had a goal to read a book a month, I thought that would be a goal that would make me stretch a little considering I read 0… yes, zero books in 2019. Well, this year I am currently on book 18 and since COVID-19 has happened, I have been working from home since March . My saving grace has been going outside every day to read a little on my blanket underneath a tree, I have a designated outside blanket so I know not to use it for anything else since grass and other outside things attach to my blanket. I finally pulled the plug and purchase my midi Gathre mat. and I AM OBSESSED. It is so buttery soft, it folds up small enough to fit in my Baggu bag and now I bring it everywhere with me. It’s the perfect picnic size too. I am not going to get one to keep in my car so I can have a home mat and a car mat for the go.
