Winter Beach Family Session

Family sessions as I’ve mentioned before have been a struggle for me because of the expectations of having a picture perfect family photos. I attended Photo Native in Santa Barbara back in February 2020. I was part of a family session taught and led by Brooke Schultz (who is an incredible, incredible family photographer), I am so grateful to have been taught by her. 

One lesson that really stood out to me that families should know about is that because children have their own personalities and attention spans, they are not meant to be directed and posed for an hour. They just aren’t. We will spend the majority of the time playing together, making a relationship with one another, 80% of the images from the session will be from 20% of the session.

Let’s kid be kids and capture the moments of real familyhood.

Photos are a mixture of digital and film images shot on Kodak Portra 400 and developed & scanned by Richard Photo Lab.
